I love my CTD - - - - or - - - - Spark Plugs

I love my CTD. This morning I was helping out a friend, who doesn't know one end of a wrench from the other, change out the spark plugs in an '04 Durango Hemi. My friend said the shop wanted almost $300 plus parts. I said BS, they were taking you cause you are a woman. She had bought 16 Double Platinum plugs. 16!

Book said 2 hours, but I'm slow and had to experiment with beterizing some of my tools. Some of the plugs were real hard to break loose and none had any evidence of thread anti-seize, although to tell the truth, I don't know if there would be evidence. Front 2 on each bank were OK to reach, but the back ones were tucked pretty well under the dash, if I slipped the wrench, I'd be changing the radio channel.

In and out in 2 1/2 hours. 16 plugs, and I didn't change out the 8 plug wires.... maybe next time (maybe not).

Oh, did I say I love my CTD? I do, I do.

Hah! I love my CTD. The day my husband changed out his 16 plugs on his '06 Hemi Charger last summer, I sat back on my shop stool and drank beer, and grinned .

I've done it a few times. Easiest way to do those back plugs is to drop the spark plug socket in the hole, then drop a 3" extension down the hole, then grab another 3". That one will stick out of the hole enough to hook the other 3" to it, then to the socket.

You don't want anti-sieze on the threads. That's why there were no signs of it.

I helped my friend change out the plugs on his 05 hemi. Not bad, but not fun. About as not as fun as changing out the fuel filter on this 6.7. If I could find the engineer who designed that, we would have a very clear talk on how something should not be done.

Automotive engineers should spend a minimum 6 months as techs, prior to being allowed to design anything. There are no excuses for some of that garbage.

Changed spark plugs in my Hemi powered Magnum. I didn't think it was that bad, other than having 16 of them. I've done worse.

Not knowing anything about the Hemi but if it has aluminum heads you sure as heck want a copper based anti-seize on them. If not you can/will rip the threads out of the head. Myself I would use it even if the heads are cast iron.
