I hit 3 grand !

I punched it the other day and red lined it before it would shift. I had to let off and then it shifted. I have not noticed any problems sense then but will I have? I want to do the tranny bad but don't want to spend that kind of money on my truck right now.

Is this an early warning about the tranny though?

OOPS! I need to fix that I have moved to Frisco north of Dallas. MikeyB is in Tomball though just north of you. I have come to the conclusion long ago that these auto's are manual autos. You kind of have to get them to shift when you want them to by lifting. I pull a fifth wheel and I use this to keep it from rapping up to high.

I've had mine tached up at 3200 numerous times for atleast 2 minutes before while pulling steep grades.

Usta:

I would certainly get a reinforced TC if you use a chip. Put your money down on that immediately. The stock engine already well overpowers the transmission. Any additional mods will cause unwanted strain on the 48re.

Mine has seen 3400 RPMs once, and up to 3250 at other times...Scares the crap out of you! It's like you have the shifter in 1st gear. I have to let out of it to get it to shift. It appears to happen most when I pull out of a prking lot & get on it to merge into traffic. It shifts down to first, but then won't upshift. I've had it in the dealer for this...same old story. Could not duplicate, no codes present. We reflashed the computer for shift issues...blah blah blah. Still does it. I just don't go WOT when accelerating.

I thought the Cummins was designed to take the abuse, figured at least on a stock tune the computer would keep everything safe??

I romp on it like that quite often actually and yes sometimes it hangs in a gear for a second or so (it eventually shifts WOT), usually only do it from a little bit of a rolling start though, never thought I was hurting anything just cleaning out the carbon.

I'm sure the tranny is a different story, but thats what warranty is for
