My 04.5 6-speed rocks definetly goes as good as my buddy's 04 HO , but I can't shift as well as the auto but that's not what I bought it for. It definetly will get with the program when you want it to . Lots of fun on the on-ramps. This is definetly the best fit and finish , tightest, fastest stock diesel I've driven. It will tow what I want and all in a stock package.
LOL no I'm not use to driving a dragster or anything like that, just my 96 cummins with a light enhancement. I didn't buy my truck for that either, I just like to be able to tow my 12000 pound 5th wheel and not slow down for hills and watch those furd and chebby boys get smaller and smaller in my mirror I'm glad to hear you are so pleased with your 6 speed, I have yet to drive one but I will real soon. If I'm as impressed as you I just may have to get off of the middle of the fence and buy one.

I hated to sell my 140K 5-speed 96', It was still like new.
but I wanted more power and didn't feel like doing all the bombs then do the clutch to handle it all. WE finally got a truck here in Calif. that persuaded me to sell the 96' and order it just the way I wanted.

The 6- speed like' s to be warmed up before it shifts well , I also needed a few days to get the feel of it back after driving a company chevy auto around for a month after my 96' was gone and waitng for the new 04.5.

Sorry, I just don't see how the 25/45 difference could be that obvious. I think I'll go test drive one and get back to ya'll.

Test drove a six speed on trursday in Phoenix and was very impressed. It feels like the difference is in the midrange not much different in the low end. So I wrote them a check and drove it home. It drove perfect. My only complaint was it was hard to get into reverse but after 400 miles it loosend up. Mpg's were about 17 to18 highway.Very happy with it!

I can't comment on the Cummins' but waaay back when I was still in school I worked at a Buick dealer during the time that the Grand National was being sold, and I got to drive alot of them right off the delivery trucks. These were brand new cars and the difference between them was un-believable!!! Some were scarry fast and others felt like they couldn't get out of their own way and some were in between. Never did find out what the difference was between them but maybe it's the same with the new Rams.

Hey-

For those of you who think George & Cheryl are posting a bogus thread, I've met them (and their Dodge CTD truck) and can vouch that George is who he says he is. I don't know anything about the 2004.5, but George and Cheryl are for real.

Just a reality update.....

Since they were brand new the differences could have been because of manufacturing variances in the new engines as some are bound to be tighter than others right off the assembly line. But probably most of the differences would go away as the engines got some break-in miles on them (and it sounds like you were getting that process started ). I would guess that this effect may be somewhat less noticeable these days as manufacturing techniques have improved greatly over the years.
