HOWES Meaner Power Kleaner is by far the BEST!!!
All I know is the fuel here in Ca is terrible! And I have to do something to make this truck work for me.
I'm currently running 8oz of Meaner Cleaner with 8oz of Power Service, (white bottle) for the antigel and Cetane boost properties. Per tank. This has combo actually given me the best performance yet. Great mileage and no ticking. At $3.00 per gallon I have no choice but to do something , anything, to improve my mileage!
I tried Power Service, Sea foam, MMO, Acetone, by themselves and none of them stopped the ticking! One tank full of Meaner Cleaner and there was no more injector ticking!
As for those of you that have had no improvement in mileage or still have the ticking please tell me how Howes gave you your money back guarantee. I'm very interested in how that works.

I have about 17kmi on my 06 and I was pretty sure that it had gotten increasing louder since I bought it. I just got in to my friends Duramax and realized that I'm not wrong. When I bought the truck it was barely louder than the Duramax. Now... it sounds like a Ford. Since this is my first diesel, I thought the pingling or valve clatter sound was normal. I guess not.
I am headed down to the local reputable truck station. They are a little out of the way, but they also have the best fuel prices... and turns out, they sell Howes meaner cleaner. I am going to top off the tank and put in some Howes.
This thing has never gotten what others have been reporting for mileage. And I especially thought it was strange that an 05 at this same station the last time I filled up... sounded a lot less noisier than mine. I have tried a number of treatments to get the truck to quiet down... so far, the only thing that has helped (or seemed to) was Biodiesel. My mileage still sucked though. My next course of action was going to be to switch to synthetic on my next change (over 20kmi).
I will report back when the tank is empty after my experiment above. Hopefully I have the same to say as most on this thread.

I live in Northern Indiana, and let me tell you, the stuff is nearly impossible to find here. I have tried numerous truck stops in the past with no luck. I now order it from Shafer Oil in Fort Wayne Indiana. I buy it by the 24 qt case for $161 then sell it to my buddies for $8.00 a bottle. I have not seen any great mileage improvements, I run it for the lube, the milage increase is just a bonus if you see it. I run 8 oz of Meener Kleaner and 8 oz MMO in each tank.
I just bought some at the TA truck stop, $9.95 for 32 oz. I was wondering, though, in the add it shows to be clear in color with a tint of yellow. The stuff I bought is BROWN??? Anybody else see this color?? On another note, I can definitely tell it runs smoother now!!!
My dealer keeps telling me to run someting called Megatane. It seems to be made locally. I have not found it yet. My truck was sounding like a gasser with bad timing. I decided to try the Lucas. I filled up at a Flying J and also added some MMO. I thought the consensus was 16 oz. on the MMO so thats what I added. I also think I added about twice what Lucas recommended. Regardless, my truck is much quieter after that tank. I still got the same mileage, ~750 miles/tank. BUT, I filled up this morning, no additives, at a Valero. My truck, no matter how it is running, runs much better on the Valero. Its just too pricey most of the time. Anyway, 50 miles, one way, my over head was floating around 24.7-24.9. It usually hovers around 22, which is pretty close to my hand-calc number. Its usually right on or .5 mpg high at the most. I think I might attempt membership into the 900 mile club!!
For those near an O'Reilly Auto Parts store, they stock Howe's Diesel Treat, but they keep in the back with the parts (in Colleyville, TX, anyway) and they list it on the web site (which the counter personnel use to look for items) as just "Diesel Treat" with no picture or reference to Howe's. O'Reilly part numbers are 103062-QT and 103060-1/2, for quart and half gallon. Prices are listed on the web site.
I am not affiliated in any way, but found the store to be much more convenient than a truck stop. I'll follow-up with comments/comparisons in a tank or two!

AND... when I got home, the truck sounded noticeably quieter. Still not D-max quiet, but it sounded nice to me now. The verdict... yeah, this stuff works. And I am so happy I finally found something that does. The key is the 8oz IMO.
Thanks for putting me on to this stuff.
OK..Finally found some in a Pilot truck stop. $12.99 a bottle and I got the last two. While I was checking out a trucker saw what I had and told me that stuff works great but told me be careful of the mixture amount. He was not happy they were out either and I had the last two for a P/U and not a semi...It says 8oz for every 60gal on the bottle so after filling up I added 6oz the first time. Did not notice anything yet but after reading here, most seem to add 8oz per fill up. Now what do most do? The trucker said to much is not going to hurt anything but waste the product. How much do you guys add per tank?
from the results from the couple people ive turned on to it, it seems like if you do a double dose at first, it realy helps to clean things up, then you can back off on it and get the same results..
i pre mix large batches in galon jugs to keep handy...
i mix howes, p/s, mmo, and tw3 together... i use about 6 oz on a fill up, and every one local seems to think ive got the quietest cr around... and thats even w/ the timing cranked up..

The lighter colored stuff is their winter anti-gel fuel treat which I have used down to -30F and it works great for that. The brown stuff is the meaner power cleaner. They probably just dump some red dye in the anti-gel stuff and label it "meaner power cleaner". I used to be skeptical of these additives but I think that as a biocide to keep the bacteria from growing in your fuel tank maybe they arent such a bad idea if your truck sits for long periods of time like mine does.
