It will vary depending on a service fill or overhaul. I just take it to the dealer but here is website where you can see that and a whole lot more. http://www.dodge.com/bodybuilder/2006/intro.pdf

When I had my trans service Dodge said it only took 5 qts of ATF so that is what I took with me to the dealer, once it was all said and done it took 6.5 qts of ATF. Thank goodness a local store sold Amsoil ATF so that I did not have to buy any high priced Dodge ATF.

Where did you find the filter (part number)? Where is it on the truck?

Thanks for the responses.

If you are using the stock pan have at least 8 qts handy if you use deeper pan have an extra 2qts.

It took 7 quarts on my last change (drop pan, filter change, refill).

Since I have no need for a deeper pan like the Mag Hytech, I also added the B&M drain plug to the stock pan at that time to make the next change easier.

When I did the 30k maintenance, ATF +4 was only available at the dealer. I got the filter there as well.

I only paid $22.05 including tax at my local Dodge parts counter for my trans filter and picked up the day I needed it. So for me anyway the extra $1.10 I spent was worth it to me so as to not have to wait 4-7 days for it to arrive.

Got my filter at napa for only $18& change. They dont list the 06 specifically but any year for the 48re will work, and I belive the 47re also.
