How much pressure can a fuel filter handle?
How much pressure can a fuel filter handle?
I have recently up graded my fuel lift pump to a FASS and see as much as 17psi. I am using the OEM fuel filter and use Fleetgard 7 micron filters.
My question is how much pressure can the Fleetgard filter handle, if it becomes clogged, before it colapses or ruptures and alows unfiltered fuel into the engine?
Has there been any research done on this?

I know that if the filter clogs the engine will quit running or loose power as long as the filter element reamains intack. My concern is if the filter ruptures and un-filtered fuel enters the engine.
Thus, how much pressure can the filter element handle

If you call fleetgaurd they should be able to tell you what it was tested to before breakdown.
Or take this approach, buy another fleetgaurd filter, get a pressure washer, stick the nozzle in the filter, crank the washer till the filter blows.
