How many trouble free miles?
I'm getting ready for a couple road trips with the RV and this forum can sure cause a form of vehicular hypochondria. I've had 42,000 trouble free miles and never been stuck on the road. Sure, I've had a leaky CP3 - but that's just a maintenance annoyance. But from reading all the troubles I've got to believe that every winter my fuel will gel up and my filter clog, then my lift pump will die after my U-joints explode and finally my injectors will start to add fuel to my crankcase and I'm dead.
Cheer me up. Does anyone out there have trouble free miles to report? Like I said, I've driven 42,000+ and never been stuck (knock on wood?)

The truck has 38000 trouble free miles on it so far but...the travel trailer is a different story. Over Memorial Weekend I blew out two of the trailer tires about an 1 hour apart. The tires had no indication of being bad had about 3k on them not even a sign of a problem but lost two. One is okay if you have a spare but shoot, try to find someone to sell you a tire over a holiday weekend at 4:00 PM on the holiday. $135 later for a very very used tire - installed of course I was on my way thinking I need to replace the trailer tires regardless when I get back which I did with Denman 10 plys.
davelinde,
dont freak out man
A lot of the troubles you see here are from people who have "beefed up" their truck. Perf tuners and other mods all come with a price.
If its any consolation, I have 8500 trouble free miles, including several thousand pulling a 10k Fiver across the country. Its been hard to start a few times, but it always started on the second crank. My universals are fine, in Florida, I dont have to worry about fuel gelling. If I had anythng to complain about it would be the fuel mileage. I'd love to get more than 15 on the highway (10 towing if I take it easy), but alas, I chose the dually so I have live with the aerodynamics of a brick with thunder thighs.

46,000 on mine only problem was at -10 7,000 ft, 40 knot wind, it took a while to get it started after it was parked for 12 hours-no outside power available. had a tow truck hook up jumpers to give me more juice, battery was almost dead from crankin, no anti gel in the tank either. once it was started no probs. Did let her warm up good before hitting the highway though and it warmed up outside quickly after we hit the road. next time gonna put the antigel in fer sure

Had 38000 trouble free miles, then had to have the front tie rod end on the drivers side.
Now has 39000, and looks like the air con is freezing up on the condensor (just requires me to cycle the air) no real biggy, still freezes you out of the truck.
Other than that smooth sailing....

I am at 43,000 miles now. NOT A SINGLE ENGINE PROBLEM. I did have a reflash done to help with mileage, but I don't really consider that a problem.
My truck has only been back to the dealer for Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) and my CD player ate a CD and I couldn't retrieve it. They replaced the stock stereo/cd player under warranty and paid for the CD.

I have 108k on the auto and 40k of that is pulling a backhoe. I have had dead pedal once but it got me home just fine and put in FASS, all of this was at 103k miles. So 5,000 after FASS I'm ready for another 100k
Then I have a 6spd that's about to break 50k with only a flat tire thus far. His only job is pulling a dozer or batwing mower.

150,000 miles on my 2nd gen....i have owned it since 85,000. Issues to Date....VP-44, fnt brakes and Rear U-joint. Both pretty minor in the big picture.....Other than that.....not one oil leak........i am very happy with my $23,000 purchase.......Chin up!
I went 149,000+ miles before I had a problem that shut me down on the road, lost the CP3 pump. Other than that it was just regular maintance and tires. Things have happened since then, but I have over 308,000 miles on it now.
