Question How to make an NV5600 better?

I was wondering if there were any way to upgrade the internals of a manual gearbox? I watched a guy run down the strip the other day with a stick and looks like it takes a minute to get the synchros to kick in between shifts. Is there anything us manual guys can do to get the gear box to shift faster and smoother? I don't know too much about transmissions so looking for input/info, thanks.

Hey Bowser,
I was wondering the same thing. You see I tour up my NV5600 3 times now. If you look at some of my past posts you'll get a good look at the internals of the NV5600. 2 weeks ago the guy I sold my 03 to (the truck with the 5600)broke the input shaft. The guy drives it like very easy. I think it was leftover abuse from me. So I rebuilt it for him.The thing that I did was send everything to Performance Cryogenics and had them Cryogenically treat everything. I did this to the 6th gear set in the past and it looked perfect when I took the trans apart. This was important because I took 6th gear out twice before I had it treated by PC. After rebuilding the trans 4 times now I think If I ever buy another truck with the NV5600 I will send all the parts to Performance Cryogenics right away and hopefully avoid all the problems I had with my heavily modded 03.
Oh and by the way I don't know anyway to help it shift faster. I know that when I put the DD in the truck quick shifts was definitely not going to happen.
Good luck,
Topper

Just out of curiousity Topper, where did you find parts for the NV and what kind of money are we talking for a rebuild? The cryo place you used is less than 45 minutes from me,actually know a guy that works there.I don't abuse my truck/tranny but at the same time I take full advantage of the extra hp while towing.I'm about ready to tear a good trany apart and have the parts treated as preventitive maintenance.

Yeah thanks, you know whats weird is at one point in time I saw ATS offered some upgrades to Manual Transmissions but I haven't seen it for over a year now I wonder what that was all about. I am sure there has to be something out there for us to do I mean **** years ago everyone raced with manuals in Hot Rods someone has to know something about some manual trannies.

I always took "No 6, Oh No" as a Cummins over a V8, never thought about tranny's. Go figure.....
