How long for light to stay on when starting?
the squiggly light that stays on when we turn key forward for the intake heater, mine goes out right away now whether cold or warm it only stays on for like 2 seconds compared to 10-15 with old engine. it is -15 celcius this morning. only thing i can think of is i have a brand new block heater and oil pan heater so maybe they work that much better now to warm engine???how long does your light stay on for? also i know gridheater is working because lights dim on and off like before after started.
Mine is the other way around now. It's warmer but even when it just gets cool the silly thing is heating up. I put new batteries in it last year so that's not it, maybe it's not grounding correctly or something but it seems strange when it's over 45 degrees for the thing to need to heat up and when it's under that it takes a long time to heat up.
my grid heater will cycle still, but that intake light on dash goes out fast.i think huck is right. being its a lil warmer now and i have a new block heater, and oil pan heater its helping.
Here, it isn't usually quite that cold, and running the block heater for a couple hours will usually result in the wait to start light not coming on at all. Some unusually cold mornings it will come on briefly.
Once it sucks in cold air from outside, though, they will cycle while the engine is idling or truck is under 15mph.

Yes.. If the coolant and IAT are above 60*F the light will only test. Your E J/A should be able to tell you coolant and IAT.

most throw the grid heaters away, they are not needed. many are making the spacer fbd, glacer, winspeed, cummina and others. none of the industrial b engines have them and that is why there is a cummins part no. for it. this along with a cfm+ and forget the light
Ive noticed on mine if its been pluged in for 2-3 hrs and its sunny out and not a wind chill the light hardly stays on. even though you think it should on a day like today when it maybe is -15 C in the AM.
dads PSD must have some kinda of a sensor because its times will range from about 10, 15 to 20 seconds. usually doesnt stay on real long though,
