How do you fill the tranny?

Maybe this is a dumb question. The manual says fill through the dipstick tube. That's a mighty small hole for a lot of fluid! Anyone have any helpful hints.

Stick a funnel in the dipstick tube and pour slow. I have never added fluid to my truck but that is the procedure for all the vehicles I serviced in the past.

Looks as though you would need a pretty skinny funnel and it would take some time.

Mine looks like this one.
Purchased from, ...where else?.......Walmart.
Works like a champ, and it has a valve at the neck of the funnel so you can control/shut off the flow from the funnel.

Great picture, mant thanks, looks as though I need to head to Wallyworld. Not sure I need to be putting ATF in the diesel tank though.

It also works for getting your favorite Diesel Additive into the tank without dripping it down the side of the truck.

As you pour fluid through the funnel air will vent out of the filler tube and if you pour too fast you will get trans fluid bubbling up out of the tube making a mess. As I said I haven't added fluid to my trans but I have to many cars in the past and it is easy to get in a hurry and pour too fast only to see trans fluid bubbling out of the filler tube. Pour slowly and check your level often. It is also easy to overfill a transmission.
