How to disable reverse honk
All you guys need to do is unplug the 2 wire plug next to the seatbelt(drivers side 4 inches lower than where it buckles) then put a very small wire across the 2 leave it in there and plug it back in,This will disable the reverse horn honk, the seatbelt light and seatbelt ding.
Thanks for the info . I'll try in the morning. At 5:30 am trying to back up to a trailer and the horn starts honking seems to make the neighbors pretty upset. My old habitt of backing up with the door open is definatley not going away.
It is an alarm on the "06" that honks the horn if you open the door with it in reverse without a seatbelt.....somebody with a "05" or earlier left it in "R" and got out...we had to pay for it......
Sounds very annoying. I feel your pain. I will think of you every time I back up with my door open, and say to myself, "Self, that's gotta suck having the horn honk while doing this." I know lawyers (sometimes) are capable of performing valuable duties, but I do think that vehicle design should not be one of them.

Does the 2 wire plug do anything more than provide a circuit for these alarms? (If not, then why not just leave it unplugged?) Just wondering if the "very thin wire" will have full time current running through it when truck is on, and therefore always be "hot'?

ITS THE SAME AS KEEPING YOU SEATBELT PLUGGED IN ALL THE TIME,SO ID SAY NOT REALLY SOMTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. I HAVE DONE THIS ON MY 99,01,02,03,04.5(BUY BACK),AND NOW MY O5.AND THE CIRCUIT DOES WHAT I STATED ABOVE SEATBLT DINGER/LIGHT AND NOW THE BACKUP ALARM TOO.WHY NOT LEAVE IT UN PLUGGED-BECAUSE YOUR WIRE WOULD FALL OUT.

Reecegr, I owe you big time!!!! I like to think I eventually would have found this fix on my own since I'd been thinking about checking that latch for the pesky wires. But thanks to your advice I fixed my backup alarm problem in about 5 minutes the other day. No more worries while hitching up in an RV park, etc.
You have no idea how much this helps me. If you ever make it up this way I'll buy you a steak or something!! I'm so happy about this I think I'll add it to my signature!!

Don't blame the lawyers or DC. Blame the creep who left his truck in reverse and got out of it and swore up and down he had it in park and it "jumped out of park" and sued everyone in sight. He should be beat about his head and body with a shift lever.

TurboTed, shouldnt be a draw cause belt light goes out and with ign. off, all is happy.
I'm gald this was posted, made a blank for mine, still due the same stupid thing, get in hurry when backing, especially in tight parking lots, open the door and the 4th of JULY takes place. I located the disconnect before I made the blank latch, dont know why I just do what you did, cool.

The jumper wire across the seat belt sensor only works for about a day on the '05s. I read this post and tried it, worked the rest of that afternoon, but the next day it started again. There has to be a different fix, like a switch in the door ajar sensor. Read about it in other posts.
