How to clean an engine w/mods after mudding??

I did some mudding about 2 weeks ago and the motor is still real dirty. The only mods I have in the engine bay is the EDGE module and the BHAF. Can I just rinse it all out with water and cover the EDGE and BHAF with a towel or what should I do??

On both the CTD and my rock crawler, I just use my power washer, works great. I do cover the air cleaner (open element) on the CTD but on the R-C I just spray it down. I have never had a problem with either. I have even done it on my wife’s Toyota. Do it when the engines are cooled down.
