Exclamation Hot start issues...

Gentlemen,, I have an 2003--5.9 Laramie. Im having start issues, and it seems after ive been driving around town where i stop and start(turn engine off and on). The problem starts when each time i restart the motor, it becomes harder to start each time(dont know if it has anything to do with hot engine), to the point where it wont start at all. But after waiting for approx 1.5-2hrs the truck then starts, and at this point i dont shut off til i get home. Ive been told it could be injectors, but doesnt make sence if the truck restarts. Ive been told it could be an injector pump(**** i hope not). Ive been told that it could be an electronic issue inside the injector pump(if there is such a thing). I havent seen anything here with that issue, is it rare?

Turn the key off and on 3 times and then leave it on. Look in the odometer section and tell us if it spits out any codes. POXXXX This actually sounds like a lift pump issue. Has yours ever been replaced with the intank unit?

Forgot to add. If it is an injector issue, then it won't start when cold. I also just remembered. If the injector cross over tubes in the head get loose, this will happen. Have them retorqued or do them yourself. Do a search on here for the tq spec.

Hey Spooler thx for the reply,, but yes i did have the lift pump replaced when this first happend, they called it an upgrade kit(dodge dealer). I didnt even make it home when it happened again. They did also torqued the tubes(they did say they were loose at the time). Tom'w I will try the turning the key on and off 3 times and chk for any codes, ill let you know what comes up, thx Spooler.

It's injectors.Just happened to a friend of mine. Exact same symptoms, everything else was ruled out, injectors. Look up a post by 'fireguyfire'. His truck starts like new now.

Hey thx guys, your info helps and is much appreciated. I was hoping not to have to pull those injectors or replace the injector pump(each comes with a huge bill) but has to be done. Love the site,, Cheers!
BTW,, does anyone know where one could buy 2003 5.9 OEM shop(service) manuals?

Wow my 03--5.9 Laramie has exactly the same problem. Starts cold but not warm. It is in the shop right now waiting for new injectors to show up. Is this a regular issue for 2003's.

It's a common problem on all HPCR engines that don't have auxillary fuel filtration. They need really clean fuel for injector longevity.
