horn honks when I open my door

This is isn't a big deal but it does annoy me, when I throw my truck in park and hop out too quick the horn will honk, almost like it senses the truck still slightly moving, but I assumed it would just sense if it's in park? Also I hate that I have to have the door closed when I am in reverse, it's a pain when I am backing up to a trailer. It's funny because my 06 doesn't seem to really honk if the tuck is still slightly moving and i open the door? anyways is there an easy fix for this? I am pretty sure I can't bypass it in my pmt, but how about any other programmers out there? Smarty?

Thanks

No way to turn it off but on some you can bypass the horn when backing with the door open by having the seat belt connected, not sure if it works that way on all but some report it works.

Another option is to jumper the two wires together on the driver side seatbelt latch. That should disable the 'honk'.

If the indicator display doesn't light up over the "P" , then the computer thinks it is still not in park and sounds the horn to warn you. It is to keep you from having a run away truck.. Next time it happens look at the indicator and see if it has a square around the p or around the R. Mine does the same thing and its annoying.

my dad's (new to him) '06 did the same thing to me last week. wasn't sure what happened, but i did notice the indicator wasn't indicating anything at all. pulled it down into neutral and shoved it back up into park and the indicator was lit up around the "P" and it quit. guess you can't be too easy on it.

It is pretty common. It's just the indicator light. Mine has done it a few times. I had my truck for only a few days, and put it in park and turned off the truck. Got back in and it wouldnt start. I thought it was the security crap they put on my truck. It endedup being the park indictor wasnt lit.
