High pitched whisle above 5psi boost
High pitched whisle above 5psi boost
OK, I've got a high pitched whisle or whine as the boost builds above 5psi. I thought is coming from the gauge but I solated that under the hood and I still hear it loud as day. I think it is coming from the turbo or some part of it because it changes with boost pressure. I still make good boost up to about 35psi.

could be a pinhole in a rubber connector. When it isn't under pressure you probably couldn't find it but when it get a good 20-30 psi inside it stretches and there you have a whistle hole opening up. Just a guess.
Remove your intake tube from the turbo. Find a piece(about 4" long) of 4"id hose, I used a piece from an old intake tube collar. Go to your local hardware and purchase a 4" pvc end cap/plug and two hose clamps large enough to secure the pvc cap in the hose and the hose to the turbo inlet. Drill the 4" pvc cap to accept a shrader valve, I drilled mine out the side of the cap so it would clear my oil filter.
Atatch this to your turbo and put about 20 psi to it, you will find your leak.

Does it still have the silencer ring? if so, pull the tube off and look. I just ahd a similar noise and the snap ring came out and the silencer ring was just spinning like crazy making a terrible high pitched whine.
I found the culprit, they had lossen up the intake from the filter to perform some work. I tightened the clamps and the High Pitch whine has stopped.. Thanks for the help
