High Idle Enabled

OK, this feature is very cool One dealer quoted me $80 to enable it and I said thanks but no thanks. So I went to another dealer and he quoted me $37.50 (1/2 hour of labor) so I made an appointment for this morning. They weren't real sure what I was talking about, but when I showed them in the owners manual where "your dealer can enable this option" they were willing to hook it up to the computer. After about 10 minutes they called me back into the service bay, showed me the Star Scan tool and asked "Is this what you were talking about?". They had found the right setting and is worked just fine. As the tech was standing there with the service writer finishing up the paperwork they said no charge. The tech says that those options should be gone through when the vehicle is delivered to the customer. Needless to say I was a happy camper. Now I just need to get the block heater cord.

I told them I wanted the high idle enabled also. They said they would have to charge me because they only do tsb's under warranty if there is a problem. So, I told them there is, me truck won't high idle when it's cold out...
Free High Idle install. Sometimes you just have to be a bit creative with dealers

They're charging you for that?! It takes 5 minutes to do. I went to a dealership (not the one I bought it from) and they came out and did it in the parking lot.

Yeah, I'd heard that alot were getting it done for free, but I purchased the truck used from a non-Dodge dealer, so I didn't really have any bargaining power. I wasn't willing to go $80, but I thought $40 was reasonable since it does take them some time to do it. I don't offer to work for free for just anybody walking in off the street into our printing business, so the goodwill they created by doing it for free after all was appreciated by me.

I understand there is time involved, but 5 minutes for an option that should have been enable at the factory? If it's already on the truck shouldn't we be able to use it when we want to with out having to pay for it? I just think after spending $40,000 on a truck you should get everything.

I just had mine enabled yesterday. I was in for other warranty work and they didn't charge me. It is a pretty cool feature. Now I can burn more fuel without even moving

If you have an 06 and live near me I will enable your high idle and make your foglights work with high beams for free. I ordered a Trippledog but I am not going to hop the truck up untill I get some miles. Might as well get some use out of it.

When your truck is at idle turn on your cruise control.. then press the set button.. if it is enabled it will jump to 1,000rpmsthen to raise the rpms from 1,000 to 1500 or in between you use the accel or the decel buttons respectively.

What setting do you need to change to get the fog lights to come on with the high beams?

The dealer can do it, or someone with a Triple dog can. I takes about 15 seconds. Maybe some other programmers can do it as well. I don't know about that.

I took a copy of the TSB to the dealer and they did under the warranty. No charge.
