High Idle Enabled - Finally

Good Morning All, I just got back from the dealership where I was getting the 7500 mile maintenance performed. I was pleased because when I asked the service writer about enabling the high idle, he said "sure we can do that". I was happy because when I took it to the dealership where I bought it they told me "that is no longer an option on the 05's,"

When I mentioned it was in the owners manual they told me it was a typo .

Anyway I know this issue has been beat to death, but I just want to thank everyone, first for making me aware of the feature, and second letting me know it is available for an 05 and you just have to find a dealer that knows enough about the truck.

A tip for using it.....You wont build any heat in the morning at 1100rpm....Run it up to at least 1350 to build heat....If you dont have a winter cover, good luck building any heat

you can still have it enabled on the 05's. the tsb that alot of owners use as a reference at the dealers to have it enabled -doesn't include the 05 model year. it is very easy to "confuse" the service dept's.

Thanks for the tip on running it up to 1350, but like you say, don't know how much heat I will build anyway.

One of my main reason's for wanting it enabled was (the oppisite of most people), that here in Houston you run the AC alot, and it works alot better if you can idle up a little.

Don't know if this will work for you being once you touch the brake, it will idle back down to normal. To me, the only way this will work is if your at a light and you either put your truck in park or nuetral w/ the e-brake, and hit the cruise. You cant ramp up the idle when your driving.

I mostly use it when starting in the morning (thanks about the 1350) and when I know I will be sitting still for a few minutes. Then ramp it up and I notice that the Water Temp doesn't go down as much so it is working by design.
