Here are the "600" upgrades....
Ok, let me get this straight. Basically with the change, they added a 3rd injection cycle, which takes place after the main combustion event, and alswo retarded the timing a bit? The reason they did this was to increase temperatures to decreas the NOx polutant? So just like Aaron said, the 3rd cycle is literally wasted fuel?!?
Am I following this correctly?

The third injection event is used to keep the catalatic converter hot enough to do its job. A converter is basicaly a secondary means of burning wasted fuel before it leaves the tail pipe. It gets hot enough to reignite the fuel and finish burning it. On a gas engine there is enough unburnt fuel going out the tail pipe to keep it hot enough to work. On a diesel that is not the case. They burn more eficantly and it is nesasary to throw a little extra fuel down the pipe to make it hot enough to work. Neet how that works huh, throw raw fuel into the exaughst to lower emisions and who realy cares. Its not extra money coming out of DC pocket to make it work.
