help! still clicking when turning

help guys -

I just finished going through the front end with a fine tooth comb because I had clicking sounds when turning.
pulled both sides apart and changed both front axle ujoints (one of them was toast) - also changed 1 wheel bearing that was shot - ball joints are fine

I still have clicking when turning although not as bad as before I changed the axle ujoints.

Anybody got any thoughts or have this happen to them??

I thought about maybe changing the front driveshaft ujoints although I have given them a brief inspection and they seem fine - thought I might unhook that front driveshaft and see if clicking continues while unhooked and go from there. Also thought about changing front diff fluid and inspection while I have cover off but, not so sure anything is wrong in there.

Take a look at the brakes it might be the squeelers for the pads.

If it's clicking only when turning, it is not the drive shaft. What type of clicking?
Does it get faster as you speed up? Does it only thunk once as you first turn?

I would bet money the other wheel bearing is bad. I just went through this. unless the bearing is completely destroyed it is almost impossible to "test" them on the truck. I had one that would only click when turning one direction because of the load being put on it. i think you will probably end up changing the otehr bearing.

Gets faster as speed up - sounds exactly like an axle ujoint to me, that is what has me perplexed - been through these front ends a dozen times since 2003 on 3 trucks and this one has me ??????? - This is a high mileage truck now and I am thinking about pulling EVERYTHING in the front end and replacing, just tee'd off that I should have just replaced both bearings and ball joints while I had them apart - also REALLY thinking about the 2008 conversion for the steering for no other reason than tightening up the steering - I have been reading the posts on here for a couple weeks on the steering update and people seem to think it is a good move.

I fear this may be true which tee's me off because I already had it apart - I checked for play before pulling apart and then spun and listened with a scope and one checked out and other didnt so I replaced the 'bad' one - should have just bit the bullet and done them both, oh well, live and learn!!
Thanks for the help!

I ran into the same thing with my GMC awd van. Never could feel roughness or play or even hear anything when spinning wheel. At times when driving a slow tight turn I would hear a loud crack. Turned out it was a front cartridge type wheel bearing.
