leaf spring bushing? try rocking the truck and see if it does it........if thats it, squirt a heavy lube in there. wd-40 wont really do the trick, it has to be a thicker lube

Had a squeak in the rear of mine, it was a small rock that had lodged between the caliper and the wheel. Luckily the metal is harder that the rock and didn't cause any damage.

It may also be a u-joint. That high pitched squeal has a way of sounding like it is coming from somewhere else. If you are at 40,000 the u-joint could very likely be gone. Get under there and have a look and feel. I would feel after driving it a while to see how hot it is. Often the joint is gone but when you shake it it doesn't move. Good luck.

Just did my brakes. When I put the brakes on squeel went away. The rear pads were seperating and rubbing on the rotors.

I had to replace my pads because it chucked one of the pads off and was metal to metal...The rest of the pads were in great shape at 105K

Pretty easy job. Do it yourself and put geasable Prescisions in (sp?) . I got mine from NAPA for around 45 bucks a piece. I just put this in another post so next time try a search, but here ya go again!

C- clips are on the inside of the yoke, around the cap.
Have you got the c clips out yet? Screw driver and hammer to get them off, then I lay the yoke end across an open vise, beat on the unsupported yoke to push the cap up through the yoke. Repeat 3 more times and reverse procedure to install. When I get them all put back together and the c clips put in, I like to beat the cap ( and clip ) all the way back against the yoke. This helps to make sure all 4 bearing caps get grease to them. If one is in tighter than the others, it caps that end blocking off the grease passage. Others might critisize my caveman like tactics, but I have done thousands without any problems that way.Works for me!
