Good news ! I pulled the transmission and replaced the torque converter with a heavy duty torque converter from Precision and it now works just fine. I am going to cut open the old one. I want to see how bad it really was. I am positive that it has been on its way out for a while. Time to get back out on the road and get loaded and make some money!!

 

Well I replaced the TC with a heavy duty Precision TC. All was well for 6000 miles and now the truck is in the shop leaving me stranded in Chattanooga, TN.
Last week I picked up a 10000 lb load from Lexington Ky going to around Montgomery GA. Picked up another load from Montgomery to Tampa FL. All is well truck is running great, never ran better, pulling hills at 55 mph not struggling. Pick up another load going from Tampa to Valdosta GA. Still no problems. Deadhead to Jacksonville FL going to Danville IL. Get to Chattanooga and pull out of this Very Classy Motel 6 doesnt shift right I check the trans fluid its full look under the trans and the access cover is wet......hmmmmm....not good I think.......I head towards offramp and dont make it 1/4 mile. Line of trans fluid 1/4 mile long and a huge puddle under the truck. Many expletives were used and I know I looked like a madman on the side of the road but.......... Transmission is being torn apart as I am typing this. Complete rebuild........no frills....no.....major heavy duty parts...I just have to get back on the road and deliver my load. Don't know what happened. Guess I will find out later. Cummins Engine .....Awesome.....Dodge.......I am disappointed. Awesome engine surrounded by crap.

Sounds like something simple went. So if you're tearing into it now, aren't you going to call Goerend and have some HD parts sent? They have the stuff on the shelf.... And with you pulling loads.....

 

Lost Lake, Goerends parts take money. Unfortunately that is something that I do not have at the moment. Transmission is already done and I have delivered my load.

Now on to the bad news. Transmission is rebuilt....great. Now no first or second gear. Third gear take off. Can maybe sometimes get it to manually go into first or second .....maybe sometimes. I limped this thing home from danville il to cincinnati ohio. Sounds like it is the governor pressure sensor and solenoid. I just replaced them not even 30 days ago. I did replace them with dodge parts because I was in a pinch again. This is just getting stupid. This truck is just one thing after the other.

 

The guy who rebuilt my transmission put the wrong fluid in it. Changed out the fluid . well as much as I could get out and it shifts fine through all gears. I need to have it flushed and refilled tomorrow. I cant believe they put the wrong fluid in it. idiots.
