Help me diagnose my surging problem.

First off a year ago my engine would idle up to 1k rpms sometimes for a few seconds as if it were cold outside going into high idle. Ran some BG244 and it never came back.

Fast forward to a couple weeks ago and I started getting a a surge between 50-60mph. I needed to service the tranny and thought adjusting the bands would help but nope. The surging seems to have gotten worse and really happens towing and when I hit bumps and bridge joints it surges even worse.

Can this be a FCA problem? If so, I'll replace the cascade overflow valve too. Should I replace anything else? The truck has 213k on the ticker and I have no fuel pressure gauge. Truck starts easily and runs fine, just surges between 50-60mph.

Sounds like a FCA issue. Swap the cam sensor and crank sensor and see if things change.

Ok. Are you saying to change the cam/crank sensor first or just add that to the mix?

Gotcha. I was a little confused about changing the cam/crank sensor. Thanks for the help.

That post was actually for a different thread. I am still unsure how it posted to this one.

Quick question. Finally got the fca and was wondering how much lube to put on the o-ring? I've read Vaseline will work since I dont have any o-ring lubricant?

Just a small amount. All you want to do is keep it from tearing.

If you changed the FCA and that didn't fix your problem, you might want to look search trouble code P2121. It's for the bellcrank apps. It can cause surging.

Also you may want to check ALL of the grounds as that was my problem with a surging issue. I cleaned them and put dialectic grease on all of them and ...good to go. HTH
