HELP!! Code 2149

2003 dodge 5.9 cummins. the truck will be running fine then the ck eng light comes on and there is no power. Truck at best only runs 20mph. unplugged the 5,6 injectors and made no difference. Unplugged 1,2 and it almost died. I ohmed out all injectors and they were ok. Ohmed ALL wiring to the ecm and they all checked ok. I'm leaning toward the ecm going out. Anybody have any other clues???

the p2149 code should not show up on a 03. the injector uses a crystal not a coil, if it reads over one ohm it is bad and will cause your problem. Chrysler did not start using better filtering until the 4th gen. the dirt binds the parts placing strain on the quarts crystal causing the crystal to crack. the resistance increases in proportion to the area affected. your stock lift pump was located by the filter. when it was replaced under warranty it should have been relocated to the tank. you need to add filtering like in the pix. pm me if you want how to and part numbers.

Thanks carl48 for your reply. All of the injectors ohmed
at less than 1/2 ohm. So they all should be good? I dont know if the lift pump was replaced in warranty or not. I did replace it about 2 yrs ago and put the same one back on it at the filter housing. Any other clues?? All the wiring ohmed good as well.

that type ecm failure is rare. look at the pins and connectors on the #5-6 plugs and apply some dielectric grease that you can buy at o'rileys for the lamps. the p2149 code was for the 04.5 up where they have two connectors with 3 injectors each and the code is for the rear bank. I think I trust the diagnostic read enough to think you have a intermittent high resistant point. also try the dielectric grease on the ecm pins and connector. lastly autocomputerexchange.com is about the best. they even program your odometer reading back in.

I looked at the pins on all of the connectors and they appeared to be ok. the code 2149 I got from the odometer display along with P0201 and P0202 of which the last two I set off by unplugging the number 1-2 injectors. Yes, this hair pulling problem is intermittent. Engine at operating temp or not, it don't matter.
