How do you lose it? It's bolted on the engine with lots of bolts...can't just fall off.

In all seriosness...Thank god for warranty as otherwise you'd be paying for the repair and not just the inconvienience. Anything mechanical will eventually break, sometimes just earlier then it was designed to. Bummer but it could be worse.

Wow, that's rare. I've worked on these trucks for years, and I've NEVER seen one fail with much less than 100K miles. I guess you're just lucky.

The assembly line had a hard night of drinking tequila the night before, problem was that was thursday night and they didn't finish your truck until monday morning after the bosses daughters wedding. Wonder what else the screwed up. I've seen more than one mexican think they knew how to put truck together after a long hard weekend!

Actually I think the 5.9's are assembled in the good old U S of A. I was just being a smart ***. There are cummins that are being assembled in china though. Quality is probably up and prices are down. Rice is good right?

Easy on the rice!!! Owned three of them. They allowed me my first 4x4 truck and kept me out of the mud from high school through college! Most reliable vehicles I have ever owned - period. Even with 225,000 plus they were sweet little rides. No power, but they'd run like a S.O.B. Put a spark plug in one, a wiring harness on the fuel tank on another and an alternator on the last one in a span of 6 years.

With that said . . . will never go back to the rice after the CTD

Its not a rumor there really are chinese cummins. As well as mexican. Lets just say they are oppurtunistic. Chinese stuff is getting better and better lately. There are no international copy right laws there. They let investors come in get all the tooling and then tell them to call there mommy. I see some of the best stuff avalible coming from china in the near future. They have huge capital, good work ethic and access to some of the best materials in the world. All thanks to communism, or at least partially. Do you understand the amount of land china and russia have control over. Were talking some serious potential for raw materials. As the U.S. uses up and recycles its materials it gets worse and worse especially when you add the restrictions of the epa. Did you know that you can not economically reclaim copper from steel. Do you know how much copper contamination is in commercial steel? Lots, and it causes bad things to happen. This is one of the major reasons that big manufactures move out of the country. Labor costs and environmental costs. Niether of wich are a big concern in places like china and south korea.

Hey!Lets get back on topic .We are talking about water pumps, not the price of rice in china .If it wasn't for bad luck I don't think I would have any luck at all. The noise this thing was making it almost did fall off. While it was idling, you could watch the pulley moving all over the place. All I can say is thank goodness for the trusty 12 valves still in the driveway!
