Harder than normal cold start

Truck sits for a day or so, and i go to start it.. It cranks over for a good while, normally to the point where the starter sort of "cycles" again... 6-8 seconds im guessing.. and it fires right up... Sort of like its losing prime or pressure in the lines.... truck can sit for a while and it will fire up again real easily every time (8 hours for work) hot or cold engine its just the first start of the day that it gets finiky.. Oh theres no white smoke either... its been doing this for three days now... truck runs and tows really well other than that.. i have zero issues with it (knock on wood) other than the hard morning start... and its south tx so its not freezing yet.. or ever for that matter

truck does have a new FCA (less than 10k miles)
New injectors (less than 10K miles)
GDP 2 micron filtration
NO DTC codes other than a P0541
oil change and filter changes less than 1k miles ago
fuel is always from same station

I do question tho.. what is a PRV? (pressure relief valve im guessin?) where does it go? how does one tell if its bad?
and NO i did not change the connector tubes when i put injectors on..
Also, how could you tell if the in tank LP is going bad? it sounds pretty darned strong even with 210K miles... and truck runs smoothly?

does anyone have an idea which of the three is the more likely culprit?

thank you in advance!

Am i really the only one that has these **** problems with these trucks?? I guess i must have uncommon problems with commonrail trucks.. wow...

Gonna run diesel kleen first to see if its some crap clogging up the filter...

Fwiw injectors are coming out.. crossover tubes will be checked.. no way to check prv..so as usual im s o l... May as well check fuel filter canister as well too.. and why not..injectors r under warranty..have em checked too

For some reason it sounds like you are losing pressure or not building it fast enough. Next time try to bump the key to the start position but don't let it crank. This will make the lift pump run for about 20 seconds. Actually I would bump it twice to let it run for a good amount of time. Then try to start the truck. If it starts, I would say you have a weak lift pump. Without a pressure gauge this is the only way I know to do a quick check.

my lift pump runs for about three to five seconds tops...

the second time i have to hit the starter just to get the LP to prime the system again... the truck will start.. but with much less cranking than one time on it... Im thinkin it could be the LP as well... but since my injectors are under warranty.. why not check them as well? if the returns are leaking too much from one or more injector, id rather pay 300 bucks now, vs 3000 dollars in three months when my warranty is gone...

my first thought was that.. LP.. stocker is 210K miles...
second was crossover tubes on injectors
third is the PRV valve
fourth is starter/battery combo (although batteries are fairly new)
fifth is injectors...

im not makin any oil tho.. nor am i leakin fuel anywhere... I cant rule out the CP3 tho... but im guessin one of the above is my culprit...

thank you for your help

Yeah it does sound like a lift pump.

But you're right about the warranty on injectors. If under warranty, might as well have them checked to eliminate one variable for sure.
