Purchased an ECU from dieselecmsource.com
heres what it says on their site "There will be no need for any additional programming. When you receive your part you will be able to plug it in and start your vehicle" I call BS on that statement! Got the shop to install the refurbished ecu and truck will not start, needs to go to Dodge to get flashed. Truck is going to the dealership May 30th.

Had a great time out at the range, even got the wife out to do some shooting
If I didn't have so much invested in this truck it would have made a great target.

Went to the dealership yesterday and my truck was still out side, they needed help to push it in the work on it. The programing was fine on the ecu it just needed the anti theft to be unlocked. As soon as they started the truck coal started rolling out of the stacks and smoked out the shop and everything in it including customer vehicles. My truck is now 2 tone white/black. The soot was so think it was flowing out like never seen befor. Mechanic throws his hands up and says it needs to go some where els because hes not a diesel mechanic. Called a diesel mechanic and he said that if there is a leak in the system that it will continuously throw tons of fuel to try and build proper pressure, common for a bad fuel line to do it, which something was leaking under the hood it seems. Truck got towed again to proper diesel mechanic. trying to upload pics

The heavy soot and fuel leak was an easy fix after all, turns out 1 of the sensors wher taken out and not properly reinstalled with the washer. So truck starts and runs fine now but!!!!! The SOAB'ing transmission is stuck in limp mode. It seems I have the worst luck out of every 1 on this forum to have soooo many issues back to back. If anything els happens after all this is resolved that's it for me i'll be trading it in and never purchasing a BS electronic cummins ever again. Its sad to say but the Ford dealership is looking really tempting right now at least they will work on their own vehicles.

new symptoms with "limp mode"
Absolutelly no power up till about 50mph, no shifts felt at all as if the tranny is stuck in 4th gear. No check engine light & no codes. From a bit of research online it could be anything from a bad ground or fuel filter to 1 of the 300 sensors maby a TCM flash may work? I just don't know anymoor
Wondering if this all relates back to why my ECU fried?

new photos showing how bad the soot was after only running for aprox 5sec

Prolly don't need to say this, but leave your batteries unhooked for 12 hours or so. I have the smarty jr m.e. on my 6.7, & was getting a bunch of odd codes. Cleared them, still popped up. Uninstalled smarty, unhooked batteries and let it sit overnight. Now a year later, no problems.
Good luck fellas

Wow!!! I'm not looking forward to going through all that with mine but my 03 seems exactly the same and it started after I tried to return smarty to stick. Hmmmmm wondering if the programmer melted down the ECM!!!

Well just had the Governor pressure solenoid & transducer replaced with no luck, did not solve my "Limp Mode"
here a link I found that may be worth reading http://ramchargercentral.com/vehicle...roblems-fixed/

What I don't understand is how replacing the ECM gave you these new issues!! Is the re-built ECM bad? Just totally confuses me!

"In order to ensure a safe driving state and to prevent damage to the automatic transmission, the TCM control module switches to limp mode in the event of critical faults" I'm assuming that my critical fault was the ECM that went bad, after replacing the ECM for what ever reason I'm thinking that my TCM still doesn't know that its fixed!
