Good tranny shop in San Antonio, TX?

I am moving from Montana to Alabama with an enroute stop in TX for the Air Force.
I am having some erratic shifting, which I have had off and on and now I am having shuddering during acceleration and just prior to a big downshift when pulling a grade. I also notice that sometimes in the morning it does not want to move for awhile. I can probably get the dealer to do the rebuild under warranty but I want the tranny built for towing and able to handle more HP.
Does anyone know/recommend a place here in San Antonio, TX?

Give this guy a call. He's on the East side of San Antonio just outside of China Grove on HWY 87. I'm pretty sure all he does is autos:

Gerald Kosub Transmission Services‎
7455 US Highway 87 E, San Antonio, TX‎ - (210) 648-4991‎

Also try this shop:
Solarczyk Automotive Service Inc‎
13035 FM 1346, St Hedwig, TX‎ - (210) 667-1174‎

Solarczyk has been our extended families mechanic shop for over 20 years now. I've even driven one of my trucks back to my home town 180+ miles just to have him work on it even though I've moved away from home. Both these shops will treat you right, it might be a slight drive for you as they are out of the city some... but trust me... These shops and their workers are worth the drive. As I'm sure you can tell by there last name they are all good honest (English speaking) country folk.

I can recommend the aamco trans shop at I-410 and rigsby(US 87). Very close to the shop the previous poster recommended. The guys at this shop do good work. They can do anything you want too, shift kit etc. And with aamco, any warranty they give you will be honored at aamco nationwide. Also maybe go talk to the guys at truck source diesel on rittiman 1/2 mi. west of I-35. They do anything and everything, but may be more than you want. You can find both of these shops on google maps.

You won't be disappointed!
Make sure you've got the China Grove by the Doobie Brothers playing when you go pick up the truck!

I picked it up today and they seem to have done me right:

Triple Disc Billet TC - Precision of New Hampton
Billet Input Shaft - TSC
Shift kit - Transgo
Master kit - Borg Warner
Double Deep Trans Pan - Mag Hytec

We'll see how it does with the 5er behind it, I imagine it will be a night and day difference as well!

Do you mind if I ask, How much was the TC and new shaft? Is the TC tighter than the stock? I have been considering a Goerend upgrade.

$1300 for the TC and $500 for the Input shaft. It is MUCH tighter than stock, there is almost no comparison.
I am very happy with the upgrade, I wish I had time to be picky but I feel I got everything I needed to male the truck more of what it should have been like from the factory.
