i found a 06 mega cab cummins 4x4 w/ 18,000miles for $17,000

i comes w/ a fass fuel pump w/filter and water seperater

but the number 5 piston has a hole in it

would it be worth it to buy it and put new pistons in it and maybe injectors

tell me what u think

 

Depends on why the piston has a hole in it. If the block is ok then the repairs wont be horribly expensive. If it dropped a valve and put a hole in the piston you are going to need a piston, connecting rod new head, at least 1 injector and associated parts, assuming the block isnt damaged.

 

Why does it not have warranty? Has it been stripped of the rest of it's "goodies"? Even if you longblock it, you could possibly still have less in it than it's worth. If it has a restricted warranty, there's a possibilty you could buy an outside service contract and then have warranty for when you own it. This is all being said based on what info you have given me. I'd love to know more about the situation though. Keep us posted.

I would be worried about how long it ran after getting that hole, how diluted the motors oil got and what if any scorching or wear got on bearings and such, skeered would be an understatement. then again, repower with a motor off ebay, and be ahead of the game, but warranty ??????/
