Good bye old friend.......

Well fella's the 5.9 is done. I checked on DealerConnect this morning and ordering for the 5.9 Cummins has been turned off permanently. It says 6.7 ordering will be open shortly. Definetly and end of an era, and one heck of a run.

Sure is.

Just think, someday, years from now owning a 5.9 will be like being one of the remaining 1st Gen guys. (dying breed). I mean, the bodies can only hold up so long under normal use. 15 years from now there will be little whipper snappers on here making fun of us with these lousy little 325/610 5.9's

Oh well, for now I'm glad I have an 06.

Glad I got one of the last ones as well. I just wonder how high the HP/TQ will go in the future. (stock factory that is) 15 years from now will the 325/610 be as funny seeing as the old first gen numbers are now?? (I forget what the actual 1st gen numbers were)

Also, they have the new code guide's out, and the 6.7 is going to be a $5,605 option, and the new 6-speed auto is going to cost $1,555. These are MSRP prices.

So, it's pretty much impossible then. At those percentages, the stock numbers in 2020 would have to be about 655 HP.
Don't see that happening.

Man, I am glad I got an 06 too. Loooong run on 5.9 ---That being said I hope the 6.7 is even better. I am also rooting for the new Ford replacement diesel. I am also glad that the duramax is a great engine (IMO). I just hate to see Toyota or Nissan take a huge chunk of market from big 3. I know, my Ram was made or assembled? in Mexico, that just the way I feel about it though. DMC needs to get better at customer relations to keep the customers they have. That's just my opinion from reading this and other sites about DC denying warranties and people not trusting them to work on their vehicles. I don't have any personal experience yet, I only have 8000 miles on mine so this is just anecdotal.

I would sure love to be the owner of the last truck to roll off the line with the 5.9 Cummins. That would be a truck to keep forever!!!!

Yikes! I'll keep my $4900.00 12v that's knocking on 325/700 to the wheels, thanks very much. See you in another 420k...sure do miss those big gulp slurpie holders when pulling a grade

edit: Oh, but thanks, DC, for the HUGE intercoolers

How do these compare to the prices on the '06, 5.9?

When I heard about the engine change to the new 6.7 and all the pollution stuff attached to it, I got real motivated to get the truck I have now. I was actually planning to get a new truck a couple years from now. Glad I did as it is a great truck and I am very satisfied with the 5.9's performance.

I think we should have a moment of silence in quiet reflection of a great motor.

That's enough, get back at it.

In 15 years, I hope I am still one of those guys with the 325/610 5.9. Bring on the little whipper snappers!
