Is there any way you can take it to the dealer and have a qualified tech ride with you when the truck is loaded to see what it is doing. If they cannot fix it it should be lemon candidate.

Like others said upgrades would be better than trading but only you know how you will feel ether way.

No spining tires on gravel seems like you should be setting codes for way to much slip for TQ slip or difference in shaft speeds if slipping that much. Just think of the heat it must be making slipping that much.

Man that kind of mileage costs big bucks quickly. If it's still under warranty, sounds like you will have to burn it up first. I would bet lots of money that no dealer has, or ever will, replace an auto with a 6 speed.

I knew the auto's were the weak link, that's why I got the 6 spd.

I hope they do something for you, good luck.

There has been several who run hot shots with autos and don't have your problem. Why don't you take it in and see what the problem is and if it can be fixed. You did not state how many miles you have on it so do you have any warranty left? if so they should fix it for free.

Heres all of your answers to your ???. I live in the North West corner of NC. I have took it back several times since I got it in Augest. It has 6850 miles. I called today and It will a long hard road to get another truck. After this I dont want a auto in my truck no more. They told me when I traded my 6 speed that It would handle the job and it want. Plus chyrsler told me that the truck was only suppose to pull 13400 or something like that. They also told me it wasnt rated to pull 14k. This thing slips and gets hot with 4 k behind her.

Your tranny/tc is toast. If they won't replace it under warranty, try another dealer until one will.

Thumbs up Upgrade the auto.

Upgrade your stock tranny. I loved my DTT on my '99 and only went with the G-56 on my '07 after driving an '06 with auto. Just couldn't fathom upgrading an auto on a brand new truck. I'll probably have to upgrade my clutch on this one but it's a drop in the bucket compared to doing the auto. Keep what you've got and call Dave.

I know my dealer will try to fix it but it will do the same thing again. The stock converters seem to be junk. If I am going to have to put money to get my tanny to do what its suppose to do I will put that money on getting me a 6 speed. My truck is stock. When I first got it and had my problems I took it back and then later used a quadzilla box on it for a while. It was set in the low position at all times. So the truck hasnt been hurt by any mods.

Sorry that your dealer is a screw up. Do you have any other dealers close by you who may be able to repair it? I hate it when one of them tries to screw people over and or not fix thing right the first time.

IIRC your truck with auto should be able to tow 15,722 max trailer weight and I think the gross combo weight is like 23K. Check with this URL to find what your max weight is: http://www-5.dodge.com/towing5/D/home.html

kev94, if you trade it in you will lose at least 5000 on trading it and and purchasing a new truck, imo you should just do a full upgrade and never worry about it again.

Luckily my trans is holding up, but once its gone, its gone and i plan on keeping this truck forever so paying 5000 will be the only option.

I am going to let them fix it with stock parts. I bet it will not hold. Then maybe the lemon law will kick in. Has anyone had theres declared a lemon? If so how does it work.

Dodge should not put an auto in 3500's and probably not in 2500's with the diesel engine either. These are suppose to be trucks, not passenger cars. If ya want a pickup with an auto, get one of those caddy pikups to haul a couch once in a while.
