We hear from many of our customers and people who transport trailers from us that the automatic Dodge tranny has problems. I hear the manual lasts better.

Most of the problems with the auto are from people talking about the 1st and 2nd gens. Also welcome to the site and to save you some hassle, you should probably get the advertisement off of your sig

newsest update. Dealer called and wanted me to bring it back again for another drive. I told him that I was to busy to come over there every other day for a drive. This thing is killing me. I have parked it and only use it when I have to. I am getting 8 mpg and it slips under any load. Bad thing when I took it to the dealer it never sliped. I tried to pull it out of a field the other day and it barely went. It was just the truck to. The next day I took my moms 94 topaz over there to check my ditches and her little car pulled out fine. So her 94 topaz is doing better than my 3500 diesel.

Also the dealer told me that they have no idea why its doing that and that everything apears to be fine. They said that they hadnt had anything like this and called chyrsler to see if there was any other problems like this out there. They need to look at these forums a little dont they.

Kev,

Im sorry to hear about your troubles. But, obviously this dealer doesn't know what they are doing. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

I'd find a new dealer to service it. Or even better.......if you can afford it, is to get it upgraded with an aftermarket tq converter and VB.

Dealership called today and said they had a fix for my truck the thought. They said they were going to try dome kind of slynoid. In my honest opinion I dont think this will solve my problem. Let hope it will. All that sliping and heat has got to have called some damage.

Talking Leave it

Why don't you take it to the dealer and leave it to be fixed? Should have done that in the beginning of all this.....contact the regional Dodge rep for the area....see what they say...
This costs the dealer nothing to fix your truck under warrenty....so I give up why they are balking?
You must be a lot different than me...I would be camped out on their front yard until it was fixed right...or...make yourself a big sign telling how bad the dealership treated you and put it in the back of your truck and go park in front of the dealer.....leave it there....they'll come around.

Whatever you do, don't get frustrated and give up. Keep at them until they fix it properly.

Maybe take it to an independant transmission shop and see what they think. They may pick up on something the dealer is missing. Good luck, and let us know how you do.

Is the umm..parking brake on! Sorry, couldnt resist. Hope your dealer gets you back on the road soon. It sounds like a new tranny is in order, but has your dealer ruled out something in your driveline binding up causing the engine and tranny to work themselves to death?

Sounds like they think your truck is starting out in 2nd gear. Have you tried counting the shifts to see? This is a known cause/problem.

Well just got back. I called them and said that I would be there after 12 and had to wait and wait. I got out at 5. Well it seemed to help some. It still feels like its slipping when you put some throttle to her. I drove another 6speed 6.7 today and there is night and day differense. I will put some weight on her tomorrow. It still want spin in gravel. I tried it coming up my driveway.

So, how many times have you had it to the dealer for this? Are they writing you up a service ticket each time? Do the service tickets all say the same basic thing? You know 3 times in for the same problem without a fix IS what the lemmon law is all about, regardless of how many different things they have tried. You must be a REALLY patient person. I would be screaming LEMMON, and screaming it loudly. I would also have DC involved by now. This dealer is going to screw with you forever if you don't draw the line somewhere. You DO have legal rights, you DO have the right to be enjoying the vehicle you thought you were getting rather than the LEMMON you got.

My friend had he same issue with his 03. on the service managers 3rd ride he was told, if the trannie is melted and the truck is on a flat bed we will HAVE to put a tranny in. If it isnt completly broke they are supposed to try patching before replacing
