gear ratio for a 2005 dually

Friend of mine just ordered a 2005 dually. I asked him what gear ratio he ordered and he did not know what would be coming in it. His 2003 2500 had a 3.73. Did he have any options? If so I thought he better check since it could probably still be changed if need be. Thanks for any info.

He has options, 4:10 or 3:73.

It all depends on what he is going to do with the new truck.
If he is going to tow heavy alot and order the auto then the 4:10's would probably be the best option. Manual trans people say either gear ratio, but the tow people will tell you 4:10's and I agree with them.

If he just uses the truck as a daily driver with occasionally towing then 3:73 are the ticket.

your options on the 2005 are different.

you can only get the 4.10 with the 48re.

If you are getting the six speed G56, you can only get a 3.73

Sorry, I hope its obvious you can also get a 3.73 48re. When I re-read, it sounded confusing if you didn't know.
