Brake point? Do you mean when they stopped using the NV and started with the G56?

New Venture Gear 6 Speed 5600 is/was far superior. The G56 was alot cheaper so thats what you have today.

I think the G56 is a much better trans. Had an 03 with the NV5600 that grenaded at 10k miles. G56 shifts much smoother and geared lower...better puller IMHO.

I have owned both. I loved the 5600. The g56 definitely seems comparable so far. I think the G56 is geared a little lower (don't like) but it seems a little smoother to me. As far as durability, I guess time will tell.

I have driven both and prefer the smoothness of the G56. IMHO they are both a great tranny. And like said before, time will tell on the reliability of the G56. Except for the higher RPM in 6th gear, I am glad I have the G56. New gears for the axles will take care of this problem though.

I have a G56 and hate to say it but Ford makes the best 6 speed. I loved my Ford's transmission, but I hated all the problems with the rest of the truck. As far as changing gears in the axles I'm pretty sure you can only get 3.73 or 4.10 ratios so I guess you'll just have to get some bigger tires to lower RPM's. At least that's what I'm going to do.

I was in the market in March of 05. There were no G56's around, not that sticks are popular here, and they stopped making the 05's around the middle of April Tomeygun posted then. My NV equipt 05 was built in Jan. I don't think there were many 05 G56's so March might have around the time of the switch.
