The G56 boot fix

Hello DTR,

Doing an oil change this afternoon I noticed that my tranny seemed to be weeping. Uh oh.... Thats where that Gorrilla Juice smell was coming from.

Did a lil investigating, it seems to be coming from the top of the tranny, some digging and I found what seems to be a common issue.

Crap!

Called up the dealer, 108 bucks for that sucker. Not gonna happen.

Some DTR searching and I found a fix that others were using and figured Id put it to use and detail it out here for in case someone else needs the help.

Ran over to O'Reillys, got a Doorman universal CV Joint boot, part number 614-001.

Trimmed the lower section off and gave it a nice snug fit to the top of the shift tower.

A couple of stainless hose clamps later, and its good as new.

Twenty bucks all in. Works for me!

Thanks! And thanks for the part number. Mine is still good but I'll probably do this as PM when I do my clutch.

Good idea. Mine was fine when I did my clutch. 20k mi later it started leaking.
I used a similar aftermarket cv boot and some industrial size zip ties.
So far so good years later.

What is the part number for the "stouter" Mopar boot?
