Fuel Return Line Leak
Fuel Return Line Leak
Had a fuel leak in the back of the engine that landed on both sides of the of the engine on the ground. Actually, it was leaking down the passenger side and onto a cross member and then on the ground on both sides of the cross member.
Read a bunch of threads on everything after searching a single word "leak".
New this was not on the rail side. Did not know there was a Banjo fitting on the back side of the engine, middle of the head below the valve cover. Could not feel it from the drivers side. Finally got someone to hold my feet while I laid on the engine and found it. Finally got a wrench on it (3/4") and tightened it. Still not sure, for sure if its 3/4" or a metric. Tried to get a torque wrench in there, no way. (18ftlbs)
It can be reached over the passenger side if you have long arms and something to stand on. Its hard to get on it.
Anyway, wanted to add more info as most of the threads I read never had much follow up.
Forgot to mention truck has 119,400 miles on it and you could smell it big time in the cab.

The leak came back but not in the return line Banjo fitting.
This time it was the #6 Injection line at the rail connection. You have to remove or get out of the way, the crank case vent line and loosen the
dip stick off the intake to get two wrenches on the darn thing. 3/4 or 19mm.
Its all feel as its hard to see. Long arms, that I don't have, help.
