Fuel pressure gauge question

Reading lots of threads in here.I wonder if someone can tell me if I should buy a manual or electronic fuel pressure gauge. Is one better than the other or is it just the price? Thanks!

All in what one prefers.

I would think a majority of people where use mechanical gauges, with or without and isolator (neither of which is electric).

I've been wondering the same thing. What are the issues of using an electric guage for fuel pressure.
I'm about ready to order a "group" of gauges but have questions on this item.

My personal opinion is electronic gauge all the way. I've had both and the mechanical is a hassle. You either need an isolator or a needle valve (or play roulette hoping you don't spring a leak) It needs to be bled to remove the air. On some trucks the gauge will pulsate with the injection pump (mostly 2nd gen trucks) in which case you either change where its connected or buy a pressure snubber. Some say they've had problems with the sending units on electronic gauges, so far I have not. I've had 1 Stewart Warner mechanical fuel pressure gauge, 2 SW electronic fuel pressure gauges so far (had to change because the first one only went to 15psi and they finally made a higher one) and I've got 2 Dakota Digital air pressure gauges I used as to read the air pressure on the suspension of a semi trailer from inside the cab. All of which still work fine. (the dakota digital gauges are going on 7 years old.) A friend has a 2nd gen with an AutoMeter mechanical gauge with a needle valve (after the isolator died) and it pulses bad no matter where you draw the pressure from. Some swear by mechanical and have had no problems which is good for them, I got tired of the hassle and the way I see it 30psi is 30psi no matter how the gauge reads it. I can't think of any vehicle made today that uses mechanical gauges for anything, even most of the new semi's use databus gauges.

if you go with the autometer electric-make sure you use a snubber (recommeded by autometer) talk to corey in their tech dept.-good guy!
