Fuel pressure drops with power demand!

My lift pump was replaces about 5 months ago because the fuel pressure dropped below 4psi on my 2003. Chrysler replaced the pump for free(thank god) and put in the new style in the fuel tank.

My truck just sat for a day and first thing this morning when driving to work I noticed the fuel pressure drops about 1-2psi from the traffic lights and up to 3 psi if i floor it.

Not sure if my fuel filter might be getting clogged, its not that old? Could this new pump be on its way out already? At idle the guage is showing around 8-9psi, normal pressure which makes me think that the filter is not clogged?

Cheers

i think that is typical of the pump that is a small pump with one chip on I can very easily pull the psi to zero. I replaced the entire fuel system on my truck and at idle I am at 42 psi and wot I am at 39 psi i would not worry about the psi on a stock truck If you bomb the truck go aftermarket pump soon or you may starve the cp3 and rail of fuel.

What kind of after market fuel system would you recommend? I was looking into that a while back and figured my problem was solved for the meantime. When they replaced the pump the pressure never dropped 3psi?
Can you run the stock injector pump at 42psi or do you have an after market one in there?
Cheers

Glacier has a really good aftermarket fuel system alot better then the loud fass pushers if you ask me and theirs no splicing and noise they plug into factory harness.
I think you're confusing the issue here. I don't think he's talking rail pressure and it sounds like you are.

Yes, you can run a lift pump (FASS or GDP) at higher psi with the stock cp3. I had mine at about 38psi with the stock cp3. You need to keep it set under 40 with the stock plastic filter cap. If you want to go higher than that, you will need a billet cover so it won't crack.

He's the one that told me when I bought my kit only a couple months ago not to go over 40 without a billet cap.

Where would be the best place to order a kit with all the fittings and so on. Best price of course. Googled up the pump, there is alot of information to look up? 2003 regular engine, not High Output.

In Tank Lift pump Mods

Ok guys, I see that the Walbro is probably one of the best rated aftermarket pump out there. I WANT ONE!

Chrysler replaced my lift pump about 6 months ago with the new intake design. After reading this I should have told them not to do that mod. Wondering if someone out there has an intake Walbro kit yet? Or is it worth it to switch back, I don't have the old plumming so not sure what that would involve switching back.

Suggestions would be appriceated and can you list best shop on here where one can find these pumps. Does anyone just buy the pump and get the fitting and fuel line from a third party?

Thanks

Call Richard at http://www.glacierdieselpower.com/ and he can answer any and all questions you might have about the Walbro and install.

When you guys put in these Walbros or FASS or GDP pumps in, do you use a new pickup or how's that work?
