Fuel pipe-Common problem
Fuel pipe-Common problem
The other day my truck would not start, 2004.5 2500 with 74500 on the clock. I had it towed to the dealer where they found a cracked fuel pipe from the fuel rail to the head on #4. They said it was not covered by the warranty so I paid for it and went on my way.
1. Is this a common problem?
2. They said it was not covered by the warranty because it is not part of the engine. Sure looks like part of the engine to me.
3. In my opinion, this part should never wear out, break or crack. The only way that should happen is because of a design flaw.
What do you people think?

I think there used to be a sticky...
On this and other forums this has been reported a bit. Most common seemed to be on 2006s. I think there used to be a sticky about the blue clamp thing on the injector line loosening and allowing the line to break. Seemed to be almost always the #4 line for some reason. I check all the injector line clamps every couple weeks while doing my under hood check and so far (knock wood) have not experienced this problem.
1) It is fairly common (it happened to me too, repaired under warranty)
2) It should have been warrantied.
3) Call Chrysler and get your money back, there should not even be a deductible on this repair.
