fuel filter wrench?

Curious what you use to remove your stock fuel filter cap... had to change it twice recently, crescent wrench is a pain given the close quarters and having to stand on the bumper. I vaguely recall once trying a socket and ratchet and it not fitting. A 1 1/8" stubby gearwrench would be nice but such a thing doesn't exist. Is there a better way?

1 1/8" Socket, 9" wobble extension and breaker bar. I use the breaker bar because of the swivel, not for torque!

I know mine is a 2000, but according to part numbers, we have the same fuel filter and fuel filter canister. I just use a 1/2" drive 6" extension and a 1/2" drive ratchet. The male end of the extension fits right into the center of the canister cap.

I would not recomend this method, you can and probibally will crack the lid. I use a 1 1/8" socket with a extension and ratchet.

You're probably right, if you over tighten it that is. It just needs to be snugged down. I've never had any leaking issues from the o-ring.

I just use a big crescent wrench. It's not on that tight and you just have to break it loose.

Well, they're not called "nut rounders" for no reason.

1 & 1/8 socket with a stubby ratchet. Harbour freight has a set of 1/4, 3/8, &1/2 ratchets for about $14.00. Or you can buy a 1/2 craftsman for a bit more.

I also have a Harbor Freight stubby swivel headed ratchet with 1 1/8 socket for just changing the filter.
