fuel filter issues???

fuel filter issues???

Today it snowed which is good seen as i plow for a living. so after i finished up i figured i'd change my fuel filter cause it was a used truck and who knows when it was done last. I put the 1 1/8 socket on the top and pulled the thing won't move looks plastic to me. guys help please i want it changed but this thing seems like its gonna break.

Yes, they are plastic and there have been reports of breaking/cracking them. Some say its best to use a 6 sided socket (more contact area).

If it was cold then maybe you should drive it around to warm up engine compartment & filter or if it was warm when you tried it maybe let it cool and re-try it.

Otherwise, you can wait and order a metal cap from Geno's and then take another stab at it and if you break it you have a metal replacement already in hand and are good to go.

Aluminum shrinks more than plastic. Warm it up.

thanks guys got disgusted today trucks covered with salt and drippin all over will try again tommorrow night let ya know what happens

When yo park it to change the fuel filter get yourself a bucket or 1ltr bottle and atach it ot the drain tube. Then open the drain valve prior to attempting to take the cap off. Chances are that there is a vacuum on fule filter compartment because that is what it does, sucks the fuel from fuel tank.

ok its done. man i feel stupid . OPEN THE VALVE
BUT i broke the valve. anyway it still shuts the drain off but the plastic stopper is gone.its done anyway
