Fuel filter drain hose size?

I want to extend the drain hose down a little further so I can collect the drained diesel without getting it all over everything. Does anybody know the size(diameter) of the drain hose so I can go get a longer piece?

I did that modification, too. I just crawled under with a knife and cut off a couple inches and took it into the auto parts store and asked for 4 feet of this stuff...

Looking at it, it appears to be 1/2" ID, but taking a bit in with you with you will make sure they give you the same stuff.

Why they didn't make that hose long enough to begin with is beyond me...

If you don't mind, let us know what size when you get it. I'd like to do the same.

Hey, thanks for the old garden hose trick, worked like a charm. Also saved me a trip to the Home Depot.

That was the first mod I did..Looked at it the first time I went to drain the fuel filter and didn't want diesel running all over the front pumpkin!!!

You can use about two feet of clear 3/4 ID hose to slip over the drains hose.
Just slip it over the drain hose and remove after your done.

Yeah, 1/2 is what it looks like to me, too.

I did the slip the bigger hose over the factory drain hose the first couple times, but it was just easier to replace the thing with a longer one.

I'm not super-green, but I didn't like the idea of diesel fuel going all over the axle and all over the ground. I really wonder why they didn't make the hose long enough to begin with, so you can easily catch the fuel from the drain in a pan.
