You want me to come do it for you????

I think it's tha same as my 03. Just use a wrench or a socket.

On my 04.5 it isn't too hard to get to but you do have to be a contortionist in order to get the wrench in the right spot.

I put an adjustable crescent wrench on the square on top and push gently.
Opening the water separator to let some air in doesn't hurt once it's loose.

I have a stubby flexible ratchet wrench and a socket just for that job.

I use a socket with a swivel and long extension works perfectly everytime.

Changed mine something on the order of three times now and have always used a 12 inch crescent wrench. It helps if you are tall or use a step to get up where you can reach it.

If you have the stock drain tube, put the tube in a 20 oz. water bottle (WalMart water bottle works great). Open water drain (yellow handle) and let fuel drain into the bottle. Place an 1 1/8" socket ($4.00 at AutoZone) on the cap. Use steady even pressure to loosen the cap. Once the seal breaks, the fuel will drain into the water bottle. Not to worry, the bottle will hold all the fuel with room to spare. If you have been doing your part in keeping the filter drained, there should be no water in the bottle of fuel. Thus you have the perfect amount of fuel to refill the filter housing with. Replace the filter and O ring, screw it back on and you are in business again. Done right, you will not spill a drop.

Refill the bowl? Never thought of that...
Doesn't the LP fill it before you start again? Is this necessary? Might skipping it cause trouble?

I just changed mine this weekend, 30k check up. I will admit. It took a little to loosen the cap. Then I just kept turning and turning and turning and it would never come off. I then tried lifting it and found out that is what was needed. It WAS completely unscrewed but it took some force to lift it out of the canister. Looked dirty so glad I changed it.

Just did mine. Took all of 5 minutes to complete the job. I always stand on a milk crate when working in the engine compartment (only 5'11") and used an inch and one eighth socket on a half inch ratchet. Easy.

Turn the yellow lever to release the fuel with engine off I usally do not reuse the old fuel just drain and close when empty then install new filter and oring re install lid turn key to on and bump the starter wait 25-30 seconds and repeat about 3 times then it should fire right up.
