Fuel control Actuator Difficult?

I am still getting some injector clatter while towing heavy and accelerating. Most people report this as normal. Kind of getting annoying but the truck runs great, puls hard. Did a search and someone said when they replaced the fuel control actuator it stopped on their truck. Are these difficult?

It is the little round piece on the back of the CP3. There are 3 torx screws and an electrical connector on it. Use a quality torx bit because they are pretty tight. Then use a screw driver and gently pop it out of the CP3.
As for that curing you problem I don't know.

T-25. Make sure you have a good strait shot to it or they will strip out. Not "they might", they will. You may want to put the bit in the bolt and tap it with a hammer a few times. Steel bolts in a aluminum housing.

No problem.... if you are going to replace it anyhow, why not get an aftermarket setup that's probably cheaper than dodge...?

is this fuel control actuator part of the cp3 or a bolt on. The dealer said mine was bad and for a total of 700 they will replace it. Should this be under warranty?

It is part of the CP3 pump and they are like 90$ from Cummins. It takes 10 min. to swap unless you have bolt issues. Even still 700 is crazy.

I will do it for 695

I'll do it for 6 even.

For real, PM me, I'll tell you where to get a whole kit almost equal to a stage one pump for less than 400 bucks.

Oh, BTW... I found out if you tap the FCA bolts from the top and sides of the head, they pop right out, easy as can be. The thread holes go all the way through, so you can get a little lube in there if you try hard.

Wish I would have done this first...
