Front Wheel Wobble..

When turning on pavement my front wheels seem to have a wobble effect, even the steering wheel moves a bit with the slow oscillation.

It is the same effect that you get if you forget to take the truck out of 4WD and attempt a sharp turn on pavement.

The truck 4WD switch has 2WD selected with that lamp on.

This happens only at slow speed and fairly sharp turns...

The truck has about 52,000 miles on it.

Air pressure is normal in the front tires..

I suspect the front universal joints..?????????

If it is these joints are they covered in the extended power train warranty???

Thanks

sounds like front axle u-joints to me, if they are going out it will make it feel like your in 4x4 when making sharp turns.

I have the same problem, just started yesterday. Only mine happens during wide turns, no problems on sharp turns. Just a strong pulsing at anything other that straight ahead. Any advice out there?

They fixed mine yesterday, he said both axle joints were frozen up.

If it is any help I did turn my wheel and crawl in the wheel well with a short bar pried on the joints, the one on the drivers side showed some movement as if it was loose...

Mine were covered under the power train warranty.

I would liked to have had greaseable joints put in but they said they had to use OEM parts on warranty repairs.

Job took a bit less than 3 hours from start to finish.

They did a good professional job and were nice, not like the dealer I took it to a few months ago who took 15 days to change the rear pinion seal after they completely destroyed the pinion yoke.
