front seal leaking

My front seal has started leaking. Its not bad yet, just enough so that you can see its leakin but not enough to drip. how big a pain is to change?

Had my 04 done about a month ago. It was covered under warranty. Took a day, but also had an oil change and the tranny fluid changed out. For what it's woth I noticed mine was kind of wet around the seal and thought I will wait a couple days and check it again, in three days went from being wet to actually dripping.

Mine has shown seepage. I just wash it down ans keep an eye on it. Unless it starts making a mess, I will not touch it. Its been this way for about 40,000 miles.

Same here, mine has sweated since day one. Never dripped so I don't worry about it.

Are you talking about the front cranshaft seal ?

If so,,,I thought mine was leaking, so I changed it. That didn't fix the leak. It turned out to be the gear housing gasket between the housing and the block. I could see the oil trail below the water pump. The proper fix is to tear off the whole front of the motor, and pull the cam and lifter's. Very envolved. Well that's well beyond me. Someone told me about something called "The Right Stuff" from Permatex. You clean the area well and run a bead like caulking. It has held for over a year. Heck, maybe 2 year's now.

My crank seal has been leaking just enough to get the front of the pan wet looking but has never dripped. I plan to fix mine when I put the cam in, within a couple of months.
My pinion seal has also been wet since the first time I boost launched it but it doesn't drip either. I just clean both with degreaser every time I wash the truck.

my crank seal was fixed at 205,000 km and they put on a speedy sleeve. 100 km later and its leaking again. i know a guy that has had his dealer put 5 front seals on his 2005 and it still leaks. i guess this is the only flaw of the 5.9 cummins.........

I bought a f1 helix 2 from Timinva to put in my truck. I was going to put in later but they had a sale on the cams so I decided to buy one while they were cheaper.
