Unhappy Front-end woes...

Unfortunately, it's now my turn to experience the front-end humming that others have heard and suffered through.

I rotated the tires hoping that was the source; nope. The noise sounds like it's in 4x4. I tried turning left/right but that doesn't affect it.

The dealer called this morning with the bad news. They said the pinion bearing and carrier bearing in the front differential are bad. They don't believe the wheel bearings are bad. Worst case: $1600. If only the differential bearings: ~$700.

It's a daily driver so I had to say yes. Mileage is at 120,000.

Thought: I bought this heavy-duty truck to give it a light-duty life so it would last a long time... problem is the manufacturer doesn't care any longer.
