Front Driveshaft Woes

Well last Thursday as I left my home for work I noticed a little vibration in the front end. As I live out in the country I drove about 1.5 miles and the vibration got noticeably worse. I turned around and went back home and fired up my old Hemi and went on to work. I figured that I had probably just lost a front bearing or an axle u-joint. Tearing it down Saturday, I removed the front driveshaft and found all 3 factory u-joints had trashed but had not come apart. The play was very minimal. I decided to take the CV joint end apart 1st and when I did, I found that the ball in the CV had grenaded and now I have to have the driveshaft rebuilt. The u-joints that had failed made on tell-tale squeeks or noises.

Has anyone else had to entertain the CV ball disentergrating?

Gary

I just did mine, but only because I was replacing the two trashed joints in that cardan joint. Easier and more cost effective to buy a new/rebuilt one

My gave away and took out the TC, so I'm shopping for another driveshaft. The driveshaft shop quoted $400 to rebuilt mine
