Front brakes locked up

My buddy's got an 03 with 6" of lift and 37" tires. It's got 60k miles on it. This truck sees regular off roading such as mud and trails and stuff. Anyways, I was talking to him today and he was telling me that his front brakes completely locked up on him. I got no clue what would cause this other than a trashed caliper or something else major (and he wonders why I don't like taking mine off road ). Maybe a hub but what's the odd's of both hubs failing at the exact same time. Any ideas yall got would be much appreciated. Thanks yall.

Has he gotten an oil change at one of the quicky oil change stores lately? Sometimes the monkeys working there put motor oil in the master cylinder, causing all the seals in the brake system to swell.

Has he check it with the wheels off the ground , to see if both wheels are locked ?
One side locked - caliper , hose problum .
Both sides locked - its farther up streem , master , ABS.
Then theres the possibility that there's a prob. with the ft. axail - diff. locking up.

I doubt it. He told me this at about 11 last night. I'll be shooting him yall's ideas when he finally gets out of work. I'm hoping that it's not something major.
