found out about my p0148 code today
after having intermittent issues with this code. losing power/truck stuttering at low speeds-which only happens once in awhile- broke down and took the truck to the dealership. got the call that #1 and #6 injectors are leaking. truck has 120,000 miles on her. always use a quality additive. i also have a fass pump minus the filters (maybe time for filters!)
i know there are 100"s of threads on injectors but i need to make a move soon- thinking of going with a slightly higher hp injector over stock 30hp to 50hp max) want a quality product but price is a factor at the moment. suggestions and experiences are appreciated.

go with the ddp 50 hp this will give you 2.1 mpg increase they are changing body type and there is 44,000 on backorder i think it will be about a month before you can get some. best to call ddp and get on the list. get rid of the edge and get a smarty jr and set it on default economy this will pick up 2 mpg and lower egt by 250* the only thing left to get rid of most of the in-cylinder egr is to change the cam to colt or pdr do this at the same time as injectors and cut the labor in half. this also picks up another 2 mpg.
Yep, 2 um filter between the OE filter and the CP-3 will significantly increase the injector life. Use the OE for partial filtration and water seperation and the final filter to get the little stuff. Easy and economical for modest power applications.
It does, all the 04.5+ trucks do. It is a combination of a 3rd injection event, small turbo housing, and a cam profile designed to allow it.
Running a Smarty to adjust the timing and slightly larger injector tips will minimize the effect quite a bit. Keeping rpms under 2500 under heavy load will also help. Changing the cam will eliminate the overlap and valve timing plus put more back into the low and mid range.

Something like $400-500 I believe. They are just a PIA to swap with the gear press fit to the cam and the lifters are put in thru the cam gallery. Lots of bang for the buck though and really helps for a towing application.
the last pdr cam was $550 we change our own cams and made our own tools to hold the lifters up without taking them out. i am slow, it takes me about 10 hours to change cam and nozzles. a good mechanic could do it in about 7 hours
