Fleetguard FS19800E

I've read that Fleetguard FS19800E is a finer micron version of FS19579, but although I could not verify this with Fleetguard I ordered this filter. I received the filter today and it does not appear to be a direct replacement.

The primary visual difference is the end caps. The end caps on FS19579 are a thick pliable material about ¼" thick. The end caps on FS19800E are a hard plastic about 1/16" thick, but the opening for the standpipe appears indentical to FS19579. I have an extra cap and it appears to fit in the diameter, the thinner end cap allows quite a bit of axial movement.

FS19579E, based on the picture on the Fleetguard website, has similar caps to this filter. Should I have ordered FS19800 (if one exists)? Does this fillter use a different lid, or is this simply the wrong filter for a 3rd gen?

Thanks!

Appears to be the correct filter.

Anyone else notice the new fuel filter for the 2007's on the next page of the fleetguard link? What is the sensor for? Bet this will make Fuel Filters more expensive!

The sensor is most likely the water in fuel sensor.

Says it's spin on also, so no more fragile platic caps on the canister sounds like. Now we'll see if they put it somewhere accessible.

BTT...only cause I missed it and was about to duplicate the post!

From the bits and peices I've been able to glean from the filter manufacturers, DC, and earlier posts....

New filter DC 68001914AA $38.17 Dealer has on order
Fleetguard FS19800E $14.95
Cummins FS19800E $16.65

From Geno's garage and the fleetguard link, the FS19800 is listed as a 7u vs. FS19579 at 10u.

HTH

So does that mean the FS 19579 filters I just received in my maintenance kit from Geno's are the wrong filters? Should I send them back/exchange them for the FS 19800E?

I would...I just ordered the FS19800E's; They match up to the PN of the new DC filter.

I'm also considering a 2u-4u filter. Not sure when, but I'm considering it!

I pulled my owners manual and it specs Mopar P/N 05015581AB for the fuel filter. Is there any way to tell if this is a 10 micron or 7 micron filter?

Well I just answered my own question. On the Fleetguard/Cummins Filtration site cross referencing Mopar P/N 05015581AB pulls up Fleetguard P/N FS19579E.
